What we see is often the final outcome of a much longer process.
The Behaviour Chain Principle helps uncover the experiences, emotions, triggers and influences that shape behaviour long before it becomes visible.
After years working in frontline mental health and behaviour support, I noticed the same pattern repeatedly. People were often responding to behaviour without understanding what had happened beforehand.
The conversations were usually about aggression, withdrawal, conflict, self-harm, or emotional reactions. Yet the experiences, emotions, pressures and influences that shaped those behaviours often received far less attention.
I wrote The Behaviour Chain Principle to provide a practical framework that helps people look beyond the reaction and better understand the process that led to it.
That's also why I've chosen to give the book away. My goal is simple: to get this framework into the hands of as many people as possible. If it helps someone better understand themselves, a loved one, a client, or a person they support, then it has achieved exactly what it was written to do.

The Behaviour Chain Principle reveals the hidden influences that shape behaviour long before it becomes visible.
Learn to identify the influences
that often build long before
behaviour becomes visible.

Move beyond the reaction and explore
the experiences, emotions and
pressures underneath.

Develop a clearer understanding
of why behaviour occurs and
how to respond more effectively.

Useful for mental health, disability support, education, leadership, parenting
and everyday life.

The Behaviour Chain Principle introduces a practical framework for understanding why people do what they do. Drawing on years of frontline mental health and behaviour support experience, Joanne Eussen presents a different way of looking at behaviour by exploring the experiences, emotions and influences that often shape behaviour long before it becomes visible.

"The Behaviour Chain Principle changed how I think about behaviour. Instead of reacting to what I could see, it helped me understand what was happening underneath. The framework is simple, practical and something I now use every day."

"The case studies brought the concept to life. I found myself making connections immediately and seeing behaviour differently. It left me wanting to learn more."

"What stood out to me was how relevant it was, not just for support workers, but for parents, carers and everyday people. The framework applies to so many situations."

"I would love to distribute this throughout the peer workforce. I think your resources would be helpful."

I wrote The Behaviour Chain Principle because after years working in frontline mental health and behaviour support, I saw the same conversations happening again and again. People were responding to behaviour without understanding what had happened beforehand.
Over the years, I have seen this framework help support workers, clinicians, carers, leaders and everyday people make sense of situations that once felt confusing or overwhelming.
Rather than placing the book behind a large price tag, I decided to make it available for the cost of printing and postage so more people could access it and decide for themselves whether it is useful.
My hope is simple: that the ideas inside this book spark conversations, create new insights and help people look at behaviour a little differently.
If the ideas in this book resonate with you, there are also additional books, resources and training available to help you continue the journey.
